Shakespeare Streets 2016

30th November 2016
Our Year 3 and 4 children performed brilliantly on Monday evening after a fortnight of intense practicing and local history.

Inspired by Ms Gorsky's engaging and historically accurate script, our children sang and brought back to life a selection of Heaton's significant players. The evening was held at Hotspur Primary, one of our partner schools from the OLT. The Year 6 children from Hotspur performed an abridged version of Shakespeare's Richard II as a reference to the streets around the school named after the likes of Mowbray, Bolingbroke and Hotspur.

We would like to thank Historic England for providing the funding for this project and in particular Chris Jackson from the Heaton History Group who supported the visioning and resourcing of the work. If you want to learn more about the protagonists and antagonists involved: check out www.heatonhistory.org

Once again, well done to our children for a supreme performance. You all showed a real confidence and energy as well as great teamwork.

Please enjoy some of the photos taken by Chris and I hope to be sharing some more soon.

Regards,
