The Proggy Mat Project

Proggy mat making has been a tradition in this area for at least 150 years. As part of our Roots and Visions project we are holding a series of workshops for both children and adults to learn this skill and to produce a commemorative wall hanging for the entrance of the school and Sports and Arts Centre. The workshops are being led by local textile artist Donna Cheshire who has worked with the children to create a design based on the theme "a village school in the heart of the city"

If you would like to help us and learn the skills of hooky and proggy a group meets in school every Thursday morning.
