EAL Support
We have children and families speaking in over 21 different languages at school
Welcome to Chillingham Road Primary School. We understand that starting school in a new country, in a new city where the culture and customs could be completely different may be challenging and difficult at first.
We are here to build connections and relationships with you so that we can support your child effectively and so they can learn and achieve.
What does EAL mean?
EAL refers to children in school who speak English as an additional language.

975,238 children in primary schools in England were recorded as speaking English as an Additional Language, and a further 601,238 in secondary schools.
