Embedding Routines

23rd September 2016

It has been wonderful to listen to the familiar rhythm of our school now that routines are becoming more established and since the after school clubs have reconvened.

Chilli Road is most certainly a hive of learning and integration.  The Year 6 children have been analysing the themes and issues in Armin Greder’s picture book– The Island. The images within the book provoke the reader to engage with the reality and feelings of an outsider or displaced person. As a community school in a diverse area of the city, one of our key roles is integration and making  everyone feel welcome and supported.

Part of the integration process is having the tools and resources to become an active member of the community. Our Staff have been very pleased with how families are supporting their children’s management of reading books and records as well as spellings and home learning tasks. If you are feeling unsure about a certain request or routine please ask the class teacher and we will attempt to clarify this for you.

We have created an annual planner with some key dates for the year so I hope this will prove useful.  I look forward to seeing some of you during the welcome meetings next week.
