Engineering week - 2016
8th December 2016
Think Physics visited Year 1 earlier this week to investigate materials in a floating and sinking workshop. Ms Shand has captured some excellent scientific expressions on their faces. Without doubt, science is the best subject for photographing faces.
Year 2 investigated chain reactions in the classroom. Imagination, creativity, resourcefulness, precision and resilience all on show. Think Physics and solve the problem.
Mr Ecclestone visited us from Wellstream Engineers based in Walker. He came and spoke to us about how to get oil form the sea floor back up to the FPSOs - PROBLEM! - A Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit is a floating vessel used by the offshore oil and gas industry for the production and processing of hydrocarbons, and for the storage of oil.
More chain reactions in Year 5 as well as bridge building.
Magnets, construction and ramps in EYFS.
Becky the dentist and Lucille the engineer from Newcastle University visited Year 5 and 6 to think more about the problem solving process.
Before the children got down to solving the problem of lost property they were asked to complete a job role analysis and identify their personality type.
