We are now a Heritage School

15th December 2016
We have recently discovered that our school has been granted Heritage School status. This award is in recognition for the Shakespeare Streets project as well as previous links with Historic England. Viki Angel from the north east local heritage education branch confirmed this a few weeks ago and has presented evidence of our work to the Department for Education. Once again, we would like to say a huge thanks to Chris Jackson from the heaton history group for always thinking of our school.
This will further enhance our history provision within school for all our children and provide additional CPD access for all our staff. One of the most exciting benefits is that we have been provided with a range of maps and photos of the local area with our school right at the centre of each resource. Mint.
In order to celebrate this recognition, we are planning a school history day at the end of March. More details will follow but Pie and Peas have already been mentioned.
Finally, thanks to Katie Watson, who gave us heads up about an article in the Chronicle which cites our school as one example within the regions rich heritage. Click here to have a read.
Kindest Regards,
A very excited Chilli Road.
